Vietnam to Strengthen Friendly Cooperation With China

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Nong Duc Manh said Wednesday that Vietnam will spare no effort to strengthen the friendly cooperation with China.

Manh, who was elected General Secretary of CPVCC at the 9th National Congress of CPV in April, made the remarks when meeting here with Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Qi Jianguo on Wednesday.

To carry out the principles guiding the development of bilateral relationship in the 21st century, namely, "long-term stability, orientation towards the future, good-neighborliness and friendship and all-round cooperation" set by the leaders of the two countries, he said, Vietnam will try its best to foster the traditional Vietnam-China friendly and cooperative ties, the foundation of which was laid by late President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong.

As two socialist countries led by Communist Parties, Manh said, Vietnam and China share a lot of common grounds.

The newly-elected General Secretary of CPVCC spoke highly of the great achievements in China's reform and opening-up and expressed his hope that under the new world situation, the two countries would learn from each other and use each other's experiences for reference in order to make common development.

Ambassador Qi thanked Manh's reception and expressed his confidence that with concerted efforts from both sides, the two countries' friendly and cooperative relationship will be further developed in the new century.
