Turkish Paintings on Display in Beijing

A Turkish contemporary painting exhibition opened in Beijing Tuesday.

Jointly sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture and Turkey's Ministry of Culture, the art show is an activity to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Turkey.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Turkish ambassador to China Rafet Akguna said he hopes the exhibition strengthens cultural exchanges between Turkey and China and the mutual understanding of the two peoples.

On display are 38 paintings, representing different artistic schools and genres of Turkish contemporary art.

The show is also one of the activities of the second "Meet in Beijing" Arts Festival, which started in April.
