Gross Output Value of Information Industry to Total 383 Bn Yuan

According to the latest analysis report of the CCID Consulting Co., Ltd., the gross output value of China's information industry is expected to reach 383 billion yuan this year, rising by 36.6 percent over 2000. It may hit 720 billion yuan in 2003 and the coming three years will see an annual growth rate of over 36 percent.

The report says that in view of the increasing ratio the annual growth rate in 1999 was only 24.2 percent. This shows China's information market has once again entered the stage of rapid development since last year. The product value of information hardware industry was 160 billion yuan last year, a rise of 22.6 percent as compared with the 130.55 billion yuan of the year before last. The product value of software was 23 billion yuan last year, a growth of 30.7 percent over the previous year; and that of the information service was 32 billion yuan, an increase of 34.2 percent.

Due to the fast development of China's informationization and Internet last year, the information service has seen the speediest growth in the whole market, and, together with the software industry, has powerfully pushed forward the development of the information industry market.

In last year's information market of China, though the information hardware took up as high as 74.4 percent out of the total output value of the three major products, its proportion decreased by 1.5 percentage points as against the previous year. In the meanwhile that of the software saw a rise of 1 percent to reach 14.9 percent in 2000.
