One Killed, Three Wounded in U.S. Shooting

A woman opened fire and wounded three people at a Wal-Mart store in Rockford of Illinois in the United States before she was killed by police Tuesday, reports reaching here said.

The reports quoted the Rockford Police Department as saying that the incident took place when store employees refused to sell the woman bullets because she did not have a state firearm owners identification card.

The woman then began shoplifting other items and was stopped by store security. Security officers called police and took the suspect to their office, where she pulled a handgun from her purse and opened fire.

One victim of the shooting was in fair condition at Rockford Memorial, while two other people were being treated in the emergency room at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
