Chinese Edition of Belgian Albums Hits Book-stand

The Chinese edition of The Adventures of Tintin was officially issued here Tuesday.

Tintin, the hero of a series of adventure stories created by Herge, the Father of the Belgian strip cartoon, first appeared in 1929 and has since enlightened generations of readers.

This volume of stories, 22 books in total, was jointly published by China Children's Publishing House and Casterman Publisher in Belgium. Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Louis Michel and Chinese Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng attended the issuance ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Sun said that the issuance of this album is of great significance at a time marking the 30th anniversary of the Sino-Belgium diplomatic relations.

Michel also spoke highly of the Belgium-China ties, calling Tintin "the best ambassador to China."
