Chinese Swimmer Qi Hui Wins W. 200m Freestyle Gold

World record holder swimmer Qi Hui of China won her specialty of the women's 200 meters breaststroke, the second gold for China on Tuesday at the East Asian Games.

Qi, who set the world record of 2:22.99 on April 13 this year, was timed 2:25.33, followed by her compatriot Luo Xuejuan at 2:28. 15. The bronze medal went to Junko Isoda of Japan who clocked 2: 30.64.

Japan had also won its second swimming gold as Susumu Tabuchi triumphed in the men's 400m individual medley in 4:18.18.

Another Japanese Jiro Miki won the silver medal at 4:22.08 while Xie Xuefeng of China took the bronze at 4:22.52.

So far Japan dominated the men's events while China took an upperhand in the women's competitions.
