Tianjin Concert Staged in BeijingA concert featuring the local flavor of Beijing's neighboring municipality of Tianjin was staged in the Poly Theater Monday.Most of the pieces of music at the concert were played on traditional Chinese instruments including. Invited by the Ministry of Culture, the orchestra of Tianjin Song and Dance Troupe is in Beijing as one of nine Chinese troupes attending the "Meet in Beijing Arts Festival", which started on April 21 and will end on June 1. The festival, co-sponsored by the China Performing Arts Agency, has so far presented more than 30 shows covering symphonic music, pop music, ballet and musical drama performed by international art troupes. Placido Domingo, the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra and the University Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra will perform in the festival. |
