Liu Yu Wins More Asiad Swimming Gold for China

Chinese swimmer Liu Yu was the last to jump into the pool but the first to touch home in the men' s 200 meters freestyle final on the first day of East Asian Games swimming tournament.

Liu Yu had the longest time of 0.84 seconds to reflect to the whistle. Lagging behind for the third place after the 150 meters, he surged ahead in the last 20 meters to claim the title.

Liu was timed at 1:51.71, followed by Hosokawa Daisuke of Japan at 1:52.23. Andrey Kvassov of Kazakhstan finished third at 1:54.13.

Earlier in the first final of the swimming competitions, Xu Yanwei won China's first gold medal, in the women's 100 meters freestyle, with a time of 55.02 seconds.
