Chinese Gymnasts Finish One-Two in Men's All-Around

Olympic champion Yang Wei and new- comer Li Dezhi gave China the top two places in the men's gymnastics all-around competitions at the East Asian Games Tuesday in Osaka.

Yang Wei collected a total of 56.925 points for the gold while Li Dezhi garnered 55.850 points to take the silver medal. Hiroyuki Tomita of Japan finished third at 55.350 points.

Another Chinese Olympic champion Zheng Lihui made two big mistakes in the contests and totalled a disappointing 55.200 points to take the fourth place.

Among the top three finishers, only Yang Wei succeeded in all the six events while Li Dezhi and Hiroyuki Tomita both suffered from a major mistake.

China fielded its strongest line-up in the East Asian Games but it was obvious that Chinese gymnastics have not yet got used to the newly rules.

The International Gymnastics Federation had decided to cancel the warm-up time before a gymnast executes his routine.
