Xiong Meiying of China Wins Women's 63kg Weightlifting Title
Xiong Meiying of China won the gold medal of the women's 63kg weightlifting at the 3rd East Asian Games here on Tuesday.
Xiong Meiying snatched 107.5kg, beating Kuo Ping-chun from Chinese Taipei by 7.5kg. Then she lifted 127.5kg in her second attempt in the clean and jerk to secure the gold medal.
Xiong also launched an attack at 133kg but failed to break the world record.
Xiong's total of 235.0kg brings China the sixth gold medal in weightlifting competitions.
