Brunei Sultan Gives Grand Banquet in Honor of Li Peng
Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Her Majesty Saleha and Her Royal Highness Mariam Gave a grand banquet Monday evening in honor of visiting Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress Li Peng and his wife Zhu Lin.
The two leaders had brief talks before the start of the banquet which was attended by some 400 people.
During the banquet, the two leaders spoke highly of the traditional friendship and good-neighborlihood between the two countries and expressed confidence that the existing friendly and good-neighborly relations between China and Brunei will develop further in the new century.
Members of the Chinese delegation and senior officials from the Royal family and the government of Brunei were present at the Banquet.
Li Peng arrived here earlier in the day for a three-day official goodwill visit to Brunei after his trip to Cambodia.
Soon after his arrival, Li met and held talks with Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Istana Monday afternoon.
