South Korea Give China Biggest Blow in Men's Basketball

South Korea gave China's " Walking Great Wall" the biggest blow in the East Asian Games when they defeated Wang Zhizhi-led Chinese men's team 100-97 on Monday.

China surrendered a seven-point first-half lead as they collapsed in the third quarter when the South Koreans overtook them by 32-16 in the quarter.

Wang Zhizhi, who came back from Dallas Mavericks to join the national team, scored 38 points in as minutes he played.

China's another promising center Yao Ming contributed little in his 19-minute game. The 2.25-meter center committed five fouls before he scored eight points.

The much taller Chinese lost ground on free-throws as they were 7-10 to South Korea's 20-23 behind the line, though the Chinese had more field goals and better shooting percentage.

Kim Joo-sung scored a team-high score of 28 points while Son Gyu-wan added 25 for South Korea.
