Tianjin Experiences Record Hot Days

A heat wave attacked north China city of Tianjin, with the temperature in the city Saturday hitting 38.4 degrees Celsius, which is confirmed to be the highest in the corresponding period in history.

Tianjin, a major port city in north China, has been experiencing continuous hot weather since May 17, though it is still early summer right now. The rare weather phenomenon should be contributed to the dry and warm air mass and strong southwest winds, according to analysis from the local meteorological station.

Meteorologists said the current high temperature, dry air and strong ultraviolet radiation will do harm to agriculture and people's life. They advised people to take proper precautions like using sunscreen to reduce one's exposure to the sun.
