Denmark Backs China's Entry into WTODenmark supports China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), said Mogens Lykketoft, Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monday.China's entry into the WTO will not only be beneficial to the development of the world economy and trade, but will also promote the growth of China-Denmark trade ties, Lykketoft said while addressing the Sino-Danish WTO Conference. He also noted that Denmark is willing to participate in China's campaign to develop the vast western region and cooperate with cities there in sectors such as wind energy and environmental protection. Denmark plans to establish trading organizations in Chongqing for the purpose, Lykketoft added. Both Chinese and Danish enterprises show great interest and enthusiasm in strengthening bilateral economic and trading collaboration, said Yu Xiaosong, president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), at the conference. Yu said that there is still a great potential to be tapped in bilateral trade, investment and other forms of cooperation between the two countries. China's forthcoming entry into WTO and the strategy of boosting development in the west will bring about great business opportunities for Danish entrepreneurs, Yu noted. More than 100 government officials, businesspeople, experts and scholars from both sides held discussions on China's prospects of development in economy, finance, insurance, environment and energy after the country joins the WTO. Meanwhile, businessmen held round-table meetings on carrying out cooperation in district heating, wind energy and banking sectors. The conference is jointly hosted by the CCPIT, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Confederation of Danish Industries.
