China Empty-handed for Second Straight Day at EAG Taekwondo

China will be again empty-handed in the taekwondo competitions at the East Asian Games.

All the four Chinese athletes taking part in Monday's competitions have been eliminated, including 2000 World Cup champion He Lumin.

He Lumin lost to Chang Wan-chen of Chinese Taipei in the first round of the women's 67kg category. The two final berths of the class were taken by Lee In-Jong of South Korea and Yoriko Okamoto of Japan.

Qu Enqiang of China was also beaten in the first round of the men's 80kg class. He lost to Jang Soon-ho of South Korea. The two finalists of the event are Adam Wright of Australia and Mitsushige Arita of Japan.

Wan Qinrong had a bye in the first round but lost to Yang Wen-chen of Chinese Taipei in her first outing in the women's 67kg category. Yang Wen-chen enters the final together with Yukiko Yoneda of Japan.

China's final hope of winning a taekwondo gold on Monday was dashed as Zhu Feng was beaten in the semifinal by South Korean Jeong Young-han. The other finalist of the men's 80kg class is Cheng Chiu-lung of Chinese Taipei.
