China Intercepts Rat Plague from Grass Seeds Imports from U.S.
A batch of grass seed imported from the
United States
has been intercepted recently as fresh rat excrement and urine were found by the Dayaowan Bureau for Inspection and Quarantine in Dalian, a port city in northeast China's
Liaoning
Province.
The cargo loaded in two 12-meter containers weighed 40.03 tons, which were strictly sterilized by quarantine staff.A dead rat was found in the containers after the sterilization.
It is the first time that such a case was seized by the quarantine bureau from cargo imports from the U.S.
It has only been clarified that the cargo was ordered by the Liaoning East-Asia Grass Seed Co. Ltd. through the International Transportation Corp.
