AERU Council Holds Eighth Session in China
The council of the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AERU) Friday held its eighth annual session at the Chinese University of Science and Technology in this capital of Anhui Province.

Presidents and acting presidents of prestigious universities from East Asian countries and regions, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, attended the meeting.

Founded in 1995, the association is composed of 17 leading research-oriented universities in East Asia, including seven leading universities on the Chinese mainland: Beijing University and Tsinghua University in Beijing, Fudan University and Shanghai Communications University in Shanghai, Zhejiang University in Zhejiang Province, Nanjing University in Jiangsu Province and the Chinese University of Science and Technology.

The association is the most active and influential international organization of universities. It holds a conference and a council session once a year. It also sponsors seminars and forums on hi-tech topics such as Internet technologies, computer science, life sciences and information technologies.
