Tibet Regional Committee of CPPCC Ends Session

The fourth session of the Seventh Tibet Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) concluded its fourth annual meeting in Lhasa Friday.

Pagbalha Celeg Namgyai, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CPPCC Tibet Regional Committee, presided over Friday's closing ceremony.

He said this year is the first year of the country's Tenth Five- Year Plan, and to ensure a success in the committee's tasks for this year is significant for social stability and economic development.

Tibet has made great progress economically and politically since its peaceful liberation 50 years ago, according to the chairman.

He hoped that CPPCC committees of various levels in Tibet would do a better job in serving to maintain political stability and national unity, and promote advancement in economic reform and the opening-up drive.
