Proud Macao Promises Better EAG in 2005

Macao of China, holder of next East Asian Games in 2005, promises the regional Games four years later will be better and more characteristic than the Osaka one.

"There will be no traffic problem in 2005 Macao EAG because the city of Macao is much smaller than Osaka," said Manuel Silverio, coordinator of Macau 2005 East Asian Games Coordination Office during the Osaka EAG on Friday.

Silverio, chief administrator of the Macau Olympic Committee, said the city of Macao is like an Olympic village with all the facilities and hotels around the center of the downtown.

Traffic emerged as the headache for most journalists in Osaka because 19 stadiums of the Games scatter around the city.

Silverio said his report about the process of the organisation in Macao was highly praised by the council of the East Asian Games Organising Committee (EAGOC) on Friday morning.

"The 2005 Macao EAG will be the window to the world after Macao of China became the special district of the People's Republic of China in 1999. The Games will be more than sports, but also economy, tourism and the people," Silverio said.
