Chinese National Flag Raised in Osaka for 3rd EAG

The Chinese national flag was raised Friday in Osaka at the headquarters of Chinese delegation for the 3rd East Aisan Games (EAG).

Toshio Dozaki, Secretary General of the 3rd EAG Organization Committee, expressed his cordial greetings to the Chinese delegation at the ceremony.

Duan Shijie, Chief-de-Mission of the Chinese delegation, expressed his greetings to the host and hoped the games a success.

The Osaka games will bring athletes of the region together and promote friendship as well as sports standards in the area, he added.

China has sent a 425-member strong contigent for the third East Asian Games (EAG), which will officially open here Saturday. The Chinese delegation, including 300 athletes, will take part in 14 sports out of 15 on offer.

China topped the golden medal tallies in first EAG in Shanghai of China and the second EAG in Pusan of South Korea, grasping 105 and 62 golden medals, respectively.

About 3,000 athletes and officials from 10 countries and regions including Guam, Mongolia, Hong Kong of China, Chinese Taipei, Australia and Kazakhstan will take part in the nine-day games.
