Thai Fair in China to Tighten Economic Ties

A senior Thai economic official called Thursday in Fuzhou for long-term economic and trade cooperation between China and Thailand.

This will serve to promote the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, said Banphot Hongthong, director for export promotion, at the 2001 Thai Commodities Fair being held in Fuzhou, capital of east China's Fujian Province.

With a long history of close contacts, Thailand is an important trading partner of China. Major products China imports from Thailand include computers and accessories, integrated circuits, rubber, raw plastics, liquefied coal gas, chemicals and rice.

China exports to Thailand electronic appliances, computers and accessories, chemical products and cloth.

More than 200 business people from 73 leading Thai enterprises are attending the fair, displaying a wide variety of commodities, such as canned food, fresh fruits, juice, ornaments, garments, leather products and Thai medicine.
