Overseas Chinese in Panama Not Welcome Chen Shui-bian's Visit

Overseas Chinese in Panama have said they do not welcome the visit of Taiwan's Chen Shui-bian to the Latin American country, while expressing their strong will to support the peaceful reunification under the One-China principle.

Rafael Chung, chairman of the Central and South American branch of China Council for Peaceful Reunification, said Thursday that the Chinese nationals in Panama do not welcome the coming of Chen, who has refused to recognize the "one China" policy since he came to power a year ago.

Chung said they would express to Chen their determination against Taiwan's independence and the attempt to split the country during his stay in Panama.

Chen has been allowed to visit Panama at the end of this month.
