The wife and two other relatives of a bank robber were detained Thursday for harboring the criminal in Wenzhou, city of east China's Zhejiang Province.
Wang Guoming, a member of the gang which robbed the Wenzhou branch of the Bank of China, escaped to his wife's hometown and confessed his misdeeds to her, his wife's sister and his brother- in-law, who helped him to hide from the police in a mountain cave.
On the afternoon of May 9, Wang and his accomplices drove a vehicle which looked like an official bank armored car to the bank branch. Disguised in economic police and bank clerks' uniforms, they picked up 710,000 yuan (about 86, 000 U.S. dollars) and 40, 000 U.S. dollars in a regular money transfer and escaped before the genuine bank vehicle arrived.
After Wang was arrested two days later, the police questioned the three who had harbored him, and detained them for further investigation.
