Deputy Governor Fired for Taking Bribes

The deputy governor of north China' s Hebei Province has been dismissed from office for taking huge amount of bribes , according to official sources.

Cong Fukui was also deprived of membership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), according to the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Ministry of Supervision.

Investigation revealed that Cong extorted a large amount of bribes between March 1996 and June 2000 by abusing his power to help others get illegal gains and interests.

Cong, who also lost his status as a delegate to the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, will be prosecuted, sources said.
