Cai Mingzhao New Deputy State Council Information Office Head

Cai Mingzhao, former vice-president of Xinhua News Agency, has been appointed deputy director of the Information Office of the State Council.

Cai, a senior reporter, was born in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, in 1955.

He joined the Communist Party of China in 1974, and started to work at the state-run news agency in 1978. He served as deputy director of Xinhua's Jiangsu Bureau and director of its Shandong Bureau.

He was appointed the agency's vice-president in 1998, and was appointed concurrently executive deputy editor-in-chief of Xinhua in 2000.
