Last Bank Robbery Suspect CapturedThe last suspect in an astonishing bank robbery case was captured in the early hours of Wednesday at his hideout, a mountain cave.Wang Mingguo, a taxi driver from Wenzhou City, east Zhejiang Province, plotted with two other conspirators, Pan Haibing and Pan Zhilong, also locals in the city, to cheat money from the bank. On the afternoon of May 9, Wang and his accomplices drove a vehicle which looked like an official bank armored car to the Wenzhou branch of the Bank of China. Disguised in economic police and bank clerks' uniforms, they picked up 710,000 yuan (about 86,000 US dollars) and 40,000 US dollars in a regular money transfer and escaped before the real bank vehicle arrived. Wang escaped to his wife's hometown, Wencheng County in Wenzhou after taking his share of money following the crime. In a search, the police found confiscated Wang's 180,000 yuan (22,000 US dollars) share of the money in the house of his parents-in-law and searched for Wang in the county and its vicinity. Fearing arrest, Wang hid in a mountain cave but was finally rooted out by police. The two other suspects were detained two days ago and all the money has been retrieved, the police said. |
