All Chinese Newspapers in Singapore Adopt Founder's System

The Beijing Founder Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Founder) recently signed a contract with the Singapore Press Holdings on providing three Chinese newspaper presses under the latter with management flow system of news gathering and editing and allover upgrading of the typesetting system.

This software project, worth 8.6 million yuan in total, will be carried out in two stages and is expected to be accomplished by the middle of next year.

With the two new systems supplied by Founder, the total 600 staff members in news gathering and editing departments of Lianhe Zaobao, Lianhe Wanbao, Shin Min Daily News under the Singapore Press Holdings will say farewell to pens and papers and enter into a brand-new era of digital work of characters and images.

As reported, recent years have seen Founder focus its attention on developing business in the international market with its systems of electronic typesetting and news gathering and editing and setting up branches as well all over the world. Presently, major newspapers of Taiwan, over 20 newspapers and magazines of Japan and above 90 percent of Chinese newspapers of Malaysia have adopted the systems of Founder. This contract will enable Founder to cover a 100 percent of Chinese newspaper market in Singapore. By then, over 90 percent of newspapers in Chinese in Southeast Asia will be equipped with systems of Founder. Its development and accumulation in the publishing field of Chinese, Japanese and Korean newspapers have so far helped lay certain foundation for its exploitation of the market in western scripts in future.
