Contracts Signed in 4th Beijing Hi-Tech Week Are Valued at About US$ 8 Bn

The six-day 4th China Beijing High and New Technological Industries International Week and concurrently the China Beijing International Sci-Tech Fair, closed in Beijing on May 15, with 823 contracts signed, involving a total volume of business of US$7.922 billion, an increase of 31.52 percent over that of the last event.

This event has generated extensive influence at home and abroad with its grand splendor, extensive international participation, numerous commercial opportunities and rich technical achievements. Over 800,000 person/times throughout the world flocked to the spot and over 100 million person/times watched this event on TV and through the Internet.

Among the 823 contracts signed during this event, the investment contracts involved US$7.418 billion, accounting for 93.6 percent of the total business volume; foreign-funded projects worth US$6.285 billion, for 84.73 percent; high-tech projects worth US 4.074 billion, for 54.92 percent; projects financed by other provinces and cities reached US$3.193 billion, with the proportion rising from last year's 34.42 percent to 43.05 percent.

The grand event attracted over 40,000 person/times from home and abroad. They were members of more than 70 foreign governmental and business delegations and of over 5,000 domestic government and trade delegations from 45 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
