A plane carrying Iranian Minister of Road and Transport Rahman Dadman and other officials disappeared off radar screens Thursday, minutes after it headed for Iran's northern city of Sari, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Dadman was accompanied by the transport ministry officials and six members of parliament, the news agency added.
The Russian made Yak-40 of the Faraz Qheshm airlines, which left Tehran with 19 passengers and 10 crew members on board, disappeared 10 minutes after take-off.
The aircraft's pilot had reported very bad weather and contacted a Tehran airport saying he would return to Tehran for an emergency landing, before communication broke.
