Half of Beijing Citizens Living in Suburb
According to the result of the fifth national census, 47.1 percent of
Beijing
citizens are living in the suburb.
Compared with that of 10 years ago, this number has seen a rise of 10.2 percentage points, indicating the tendency of population spreading to the suburb from the urban area.
The rise of population in the suburb of Beijing mainly attributes to two factors: evacuation of urban citizens to the suburb due to city reconstruction and the surge of non-local people into Beijing.
