Greece, Yugoslavia Sign Military Cooperation Pact

Greece and Yugoslavia signed a military cooperation agreement on Wednesday following the talks between the two countries' defense ministers in Athens.

Under the agreement, which was signed by Greek Defense Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos and his visiting Yugoslav counterpart Slobodan Krapovic, Yugoslav military officers will be trained at the Peacekeeping Training Center in northern Greek region of Kilkis.

During their talks, the two sides also decided to explore ways for the two countries to cooperate in defense research and technology.

The two ministers were unanimous that conditions should be created to establish peace, security and stability in the Balkan region.

They voiced support for the implementation of the U.N. resolution 1244 on the Yugoslav province of Kosovo, and stressed the need for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Macedonia.

Krapovic arrived here on Wednesday for a two-day official visit.
