Danish Business Delegation Visits XinjiangA Danish delegation arrived in Urumqi, capital of north China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Wednesday evening for a forum on trade and economic cooperation between Denmark and China's western areas.Members of the delegation include Christopher Bo Bramsen, Danish ambassador to China, Ole Tarp, an official of the Danish environment and energy ministry, and senior executives of a dozen Danish enterprises. In a meeting with Wang Lequan, a senior official in Xinjiang, Bramsen said the Danish government and enterprises wish to learn more about China's strategy to develop the western part of the country, as well as Xinjiang's current economic construction, plans for future development and areas for investment and cooperation. According to local officials, the Danish side is seeking opportunities for cooperation with Xinjiang in the use of wind energy, regional heating and infrastructure construction. Xinjiang boasts abundant wind energy resources. The installed capacity of wind-driven generators in Xinjiang now stands at 73, 000 kw, accounting for 21 percent of China's total. In 1989, Xinjiang built China's first wind power station with most of the major equipment imported from Denmark.
