10th Law Asia Energy Law Int'l Conference Opens

The Tenth Law Asia Energy Law International Conference opened in this capital of Shaanxi Province, northwest China, Wednesday.

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, wrote an inscription for the meeting, which is sponsored by the China Law Society and the China Federation of Power Plants.

Over 200 participants from 13 nations and regions are attending the two-day conference to share their views on the situation of energy in the Asia-Pacific region and relevant laws, China's policies and laws on energy, improving the power market in the 21st century through readjusting laws, privatizing the public energy infrastructure and facilities, and international laws regarding energy trade in the new century.

Ren Jianxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the China Law Society, addressed the opening session.

In 1966, Law Asia was founded by law experts and lawyers from countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region.
