China Constructing Electronic Port

The construction of an "electronic port" has started in Dandong City in northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The "electronic port" is jointly sponsored by the General Administration of Customs and 11 other state departments.

Upon completion, it is expected to create a public platform through which to realize the sharing and exchange of information and data related to foreign trade, including customs, foreign exchange, taxes, banking, etc.

Enterprises, apart from attaining relative information, can also get an access to various on-line services and conduct e-commerce.

Experts believe such a system would not only upgrade business efficiency but also help to avoid illegal activities like smuggling and tax-cheating.
