Macao, Kiribati to Strengthen Cooperation

China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the Republic of Kiribati have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of tourism, civil aviation and trade.

A six-member government delegation led by Tetaua Taiti, secretary to the Cabinet of the Republic of Kiribati, visited Macao Tuesday.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao SAR, met with the delegation. Both sides agreed to cooperate more closely.

The delegation came to Macao after wrapping up a week-long official visit to the inland area of China.

Kiribati began to grant visa-free treatment to those who hold Macao travel passports in January this year.

Kiribati consists of more than 30 islands covering an area of about 800 square kilometers in the central part of the Pacific Ocean, with a population of less than 100,000.
