Tung: Developing China's Western Region to Benefit HK
Development of China's western region has significant political and economic implications, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Tung Chee Hwa said Tuesday.
At a reception held in honor of a SAR delegation which will leave for the mainland's western region on May 20, Tung said " developing the western region will benefit the entire population on the mainland and is vital to the sustained development of the country's economy."
"In the last 20 years Hong Kong has made important contributions to the opening up of the country, and has benefited from it," Tung said.
"We are confident that the same will happen in the development of the western region. There will be new business and employment opportunities, contributing to the vitality of the economy," he said.
