Chinese Top Judge Stresses Justice and Trial Efficiency

"Upholding justice and efficiency" is the theme of judicial work, which will help promote the process of "administering the country according to law", Chinese top judge Xiao Yang Monday told his Burmese counterpart.

While meeting with visiting U Aung Toe, chief judge of the Burmese Supreme Court, Xiao Yang, president of the Supreme People's Court, said that the current judicial reform is exactly based on the theme of "upholding justice and efficiency".

"On the one hand, such means as open trial and media supervision are adopted to maintain justice and improve the efficiency of court hearings. On the other, a high-quality judge team should be established through various methods, including strengthening the training of judges and open enrollment of judges, " Xiao said.

Xiao told the Burmese guests that over 300 laws have been promulgated in China, and a legal framework adaptable to the socialist market economy has taken shape.

However, China has to learn more experience in this respect in order to improve its socialist judicial system, the top judge noted.

Xiao also spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between China and Burma in the economy, science, culture and judicial fields.

U Aung Toe said that his visit aims to promote judicial cooperation between China and his country.

U Aung Toe and his party is here at the invitation of the Supreme People's Court. The Burmese judges will also visit Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China, Shenzhen, one of Chin's five special economic zones, and Hong Kong.
