China Reports Increase in Foreign Direct Investment

Foreign direct investment (FDI) to China during the first four months of the year rose both in terms of contractual and materialized volume, latest statistics from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) show.

China approved a total of 7,433 overseas-invested companies from January to April this year, involving a contractual foreign investment of 20.248 billion US dollars, up 38.28 percent from the same period last year.

Arrived overseas investment during the period totaled 10.953 billion US dollars, up 12.43 percent.

The MOFTEC said that by the end of April, the total number of overseas-funded companies in the country had reached 371,778, involving a contractual overseas investment of 696.967 billion U.S. dollars.

The total materialized overseas investment has reached 359.577 billion U.S. dollars.
