Zhouzhuang Town Sets up Tourism Joint-Stock Company
The Zhouzhuang Town Tourism Co. Ltd., the first of its kind in Jiangsu Province, has been set up.
Zhouzhuang Town, which came into being in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is best known for its ancient residences and river-crisscrossed streets.
The company has a total of 57 million shares and handles domestic tourism service, arts and crafts sales, industrial investments and domestic trade. The Zhouzhuang Town Collective Rural Asset Management Company controls the shares.
Zhouzhuang Town received more than 1.5 million tourists from home and abroad last year. It was visited by 700,000 tourists in the first four months of this year, up 45 percent from the same period last year.
