China, Comoros to Strengthen TiesChina is willing to make joint efforts with the Comoros in strengthening bilateral ties, said Vice-Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing in a meeting Monday with Souefou Mohamed El-Amine, Comoran Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.During the meeting, El-Amine thanked the Chinese government and people for their long-term selfless support for the Comoros. He said the Comoran government attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and will continue to adhere to its "one China" stand. Meanwhile, it is also the desire of the Comoran government to further expand friendly cooperation with China in all sectors in the spirit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, said El-Amine. He voiced support for China's principled stand in solving the air collision incident between a U.S. spy plane and a Chinese fighter jet. Li expressed thanks for the support of the Comoran government during the incident as well as on the Taiwan issue. China and the Comoros have maintained friendly cooperative relations, he said, reiterating that it is an important part of China's foreign policy to unite and cooperate with the African countries.
