China Ready for APEC Human Resources SummitChina is now ready for the APEC High Level Meeting on Human Capacity Building, which is due to open Tuesday, an official from the Ministry of Personnel (MOP) said Monday.MOP spokesman Zhang Yanping told a press briefing that some 500 representatives will attend the meeting. All the delegations from APEC member economies will be headed by ministerial or vice- ministerial level officials, and will consist of top executives from renowned enterprises as well as scholars from educational and academic circles, said Zhang. "Direct participation of representatives from business circles as well as academic circles is a feature of this year's summit," he added. The meeting has attracted the attention of domestic and overseas media. Up to now, more than 160 journalists from some 40 media organs have registered to cover the two-day event, said Zhang. The human capacity building high-level meeting, the first of its kind in APEC history, will introduce the Beijing initiative on APEC human capacity building, which will be submitted to the APEC informal leadership meeting and relevant ministerial meetings. The meeting will focus on how to strengthen APEC human capacity building against the background of globalization and the new economy as well as the ways and modes of cooperation in this field among governments, business communities, and educational and academic circles. |
