Huge Bomb Explodes near Tel Aviv, Causing No Injuries

A huge bomb in downtown area of Petah Tikva, a satellite town of Tel Aviv, exploded in rush hour Monday morning, causing no injuries, police sources said.

According to the sources, an alert passerby notified police of a suspicious shopping bag at a stop on the main business street of Jabotinsky road near the city's Beilinson hospital.

The police immediately closed off the area and sent a robot to detonate explosive devices in the bag, but the bomb went off when the robot was approaching the scene, causing no injuries but some damage to nearby buildings.

The bomb was the fourth discovered in the town over the past six weeks.
