China Lists Top Twenty Best-performing Securities Firms

The Securities Association of China announced the top 20 best-performing securities companies for the financial year of 2000 Monday.

Ninety-seven of the association's 101 members competed for the selection, which went through five appraisal categories: number of clients for which it is the chief underwriter, the total capital of underwriting, the volume of A-share fund trading, net assets, and profit.

Nanfang Securities, Haitong Securities and Yinhe Securities topped the list for all five categories. Nanfang took two crowns for being the chief underwriter for 36 clients, and also for registering the biggest amount of underwriting capital, which stood at 19.53 billion yuan.

Yinhe, which was just established last year, ranked first with the largest A-share fund trading volume of 788.91 billion yuan, while Haitong reaped the top annual profit of 1.51 billion yuan and the most net assets with 5.34 billion yuan.

Guoxin Securities, Everbright Securities, CITIC Securities, Guotai Jun'an Securities and Shenyin Wanguo also ranked high on the list.

Statistics show that by the end of 2000, 101 securities firms had registered total assets of 575.3 billion yuan and net assets of 65.2 billion yuan, reporting a combined profit of 24 billion yuan.
