China to Build 50 Agricultural Sci-tech Gardens

This year will see China's launch of the "High-efficient Agricultural Sci-tech Zone Plan", under which it will successively build 50 such gardens in five years. This information was disclosed at the Beijing International Week by an official with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The official said that to raise people's living quality, improve their dietary structure and meet the challenges facing China's agriculture and rural economy after its entry into the WTO, China is in urgent need of science and technology to quicken the pace of its agriculture modernization. The government has decided to allocate 500 million yuan annually to help the transfer of agricultural scientific achievements.

Experts say that currently, with the emergence of life science, bio-technology, and computer and information technology, It is necessary to comprehensively start a new agricultural technological revolution and rely on science and technology to promote the revitalization of China's agriculture and rural economy.
