First Attempt for Large-scale Export of Wheat from China SucceededOver 30,000 tons of spring wheat shipped from Dalian of China has successfully passed the inspection and quarantine check of the ROK recently. This is the first attempt for large-scale export of wheat from China. In the opinion of some persons concerned, this indicates another kind of crop of China has reached the criteria for international market. As learned, despite the advantage of China as one of the major wheat producing country in the world, the Chinese wheat had never been able to be exported before in such a large quantity due to its breeds, quality and some other reasons. Having carried out market survey, the China National Cereals, Oils & Foodstuffs Import & Export Corporation (or COFCO) has decided to make the ROK its chief market for export of Chinese feed wheat. As quality carries great importance in the promotion of the Chinese wheat in the ROK, Chinese inspection and quarantine officials had been working very hard to make the wheat ensured up to the required standard, thus to assure the successful export of the wheat. It's reported that the second and third consignments for more wheat exportation to the ROK were signed soon after the release of the news. As claimed, this has served an active tapping for the positive circulation of wheat reserve after China's entry into the WTO. By PD Online staff member Deng Gang
