Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs Debuts in Chinese Exhibition Market

Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs, one of the top 10 exhibition services in Europe, has recently become open for business in the exhibition market in Shanghai, this east China metropolis.

This Dutch firm cooperated with its partner, the Shanghai-based Keylong Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. to establish a joint venture - - Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs China & Keylong Exhibition Service Co., Ltd.

"Exhibition industry could be regarded as a sensitive indicator for economic development," said Anton H. Innemee, deputy president of this Dutch exhibition giant.

"Considering the status of China, in particular Shanghai, in the Asian economy, we are confident that there is great potential for the exhibition industry here," Innemee noted.

The exhibition industry not only enjoys an average profit rate of 25 percent, but also can stimulate the development of related industries, sources said.

"Exhibition economy" has grown into an important new sector in the services industries in Shanghai.

"The great potential and prospects for the exhibition industry in Shanghai are the main factors attracting us to invest here," Innemee said.

"We wouldn't care whether the enterprises are state-owned or privately owned," Innemee told Xinhua, when asked what kind of partners they will choose, stressing they would consider first the service capacity and quality of the companies.

On average, there will be an exhibition at an interval of a couple of days in Shanghai today.

This joint venture will hold an exhibition featuring the retail industry this August, sources said.
