China's Builds New Large Auto Mall
The construction of a new large auto outdoor mall.) was started in the bonded area of Tianjin Port on Thursday.
The new mall will cover an area of 42,225 square meters and will be able to help meet the increasing demand for automobiles in the China market, an official from the port said.
The bonded area of the Tianjin Port is now the largest distribution center for imported automobiles in China. Last year, more than 17,200 such automobiles, or one-third of China's total imported automobiles, were sold from the area to the rest of the country.
Experts estimated that in the coming five years, the number of imported automobiles to China will increase by at least 30 percent annually.
They predicted that by the year 2006, China's annual automobiles import volume will reach 120,000, among which 40 percent will be conducted by the bonded area of Tianjin Port.
