Senior Lawmaker Meets US UNA Delegation

A senior Chinese legislator met Friday with a delegation of the United Nations Association (UNA) of the US headed by Irving Stolberg, the Connecticut branch head of the UNA.

He Luli, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's legislature, said that the Chinese government attaches importance to the exchanges of non-govermental organizations (NGO) between China and the US.

The vice chairperson also gave an account of China's economic achievements over the past two decades, the Tenth Five-Year Plan (2001--2005) and the development strategy of the country's vast west area.

Present at the meeting were Li Xiaolin, vice president of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and other.

The delegation made the China tour at the invitation of the CPAFFC.
