15 Films Compete for Golden Goblet Award at Shanghai Film Festival

Fifteen films from 13 countries will compete for this year's Golden Goblet Award at the Fifth Shanghai International Film Festival scheduled for June 9-17, the organizers said.

Of the 15 films, 10 are new creations made this year, the other five were completed in the second half of 2000.

A total of 357 films representing 250 studios of 40 countries and regions have registered to take part in the event, which is expected to attract an audience of 300,000.

China, Germany, France and the Republic of Korea will each bring over 10 films, while Columbia and Cambodia will be represented for the first time.

The annual Shanghai International Film Festival is the only of its kind in China and one of the two A category international film festivals in Asia.
