Senior CPC Official Arrives in Singapore for VisitLi Changchun, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, arrived in Singapore Thursday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.Li is accompanied in the visit by Cai Wu, Deputy Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Peng Yuxian, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and other senior officials. During his visit , Li will call on Singapore leaders, visit some of companies and deliver a keynote speech at the Forum on Economic and Technical Cooperation between Guangdong and Singapore co-organized by the Singapore Trade Development Board (TDB) and the Singapore Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) together with the People's Government of Guangdong Province. Li and his party was greeted at the airport by Singapore Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ow Chin Hock and China's Ambassador to Singapore Zhang Jiuhuan. Visit to MalaysiaA delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC)left Penang, Northern Malaysia, for Singapore Thursday, after concluding a five-day visit to Malaysia.The delegation, headed by Li Changchun, member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Secretary of the CPC Committee of Guangdong Province, toured Penang in the past two days. While talking with local officials there, Li said Malaysia's efforts to overcome negative impact of the Asian financial crisis and its economic recovery had deeply impressed him and his entourage. Malaysian Vice Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi met the leading member of the CPC delegation here on May 8, exploring ways to promote bilateral relations. Malaysia is the second leg of the CPC delegation's four-nation tour which has led it to Thailand. |
